The brief was to replace a significantly large conservatory with a more robust build that would extend the full length of the rear elevation. This would afford the homeowners with a snug/garden room off the living room together with a dining/family room off the kitchen.
The design proposed presented a deeper projection to the new dining area with a vaulted ceiling, feature glazed gable and high-level clerestory style windows towards the boundary. The remaining build comprised of a mono-pitch roof, again with internal sloping soffits to create high-levels of natural daylight into both the extended area and the retained habitable spaces.
The final build has created flexible living with the opportunity to sub-divide spaces when the need dictates. Each area is clearly defined by a pre-chosen purpose. The beautifully presented Kitchen is enhanced by the supporting spaces offered by the new build addition. To one side the previous dining area has been replaced with a seating area for watching television. To the adjacent side the seating arrangement suggests a place to contemplate and appreciate outward views of the garden and field beyond. The new dining area accommodates a long table that is suited to the linear design of the extension.
