Countryside Cottage

The clients moved into the property to benefit from a bungalow layout of many rooms on one level. Although it had been extended, it was a collection of rooms and along with a side extension, we looked at the internal layout to curate larger, more usable spaces.

The extension was to house an accessible bedroom & ensuite as well as a utility off the new kitchen diner located at the back of the house, with views over the well maintained garden.

We repurposed the existing front facing kitchen into an office and corridor to the new bedroom. The house was to have a flow, with lots of space to each room. Externally, we kept the original cedar cladding which gives the property its unique look, with a double pitched roof to the rear, creating character and matching the original ridge heights. The corner sliding doors connect the new kitchen back to the original lounge, with modern windows and doors, improving the style and thermal performance of the existing dwelling.

The extension and internal works have transformed the space, allowing more access to the garden where needed, as well as spacious functional rooms internally.
