This property was originally a bungalow, the roof was converted with the installation of two dormers to the roof line in the 80’s. The house was dated and the stairs to the first floor was located within one of the bedrooms, which were off a narrow corridor. The rear single storey extension was designed to be light and bright with a high floor to ceiling level. The internal alterations were carefully considered to create a new entrance hall and open plan kitchen, dining, living to the rear, without incurring high demolition costs. The existing windows were replaced with French doors, creating more light into the front north facing bedrooms.
On the first floor, there was a significant area that was under used, we altered the rear hipped roof to a gable end to access this space. This allowed for the creation of a master suite with a new south facing bedroom in the eaves, a dressing room and ensuite within the existing dormers. The rooms internally has been finished to a high standard, along with the external look of the building, which has also been upgraded. The client decided that it would be difficult to match the existing brickwork with the extension and therefore the whole house has been rendered in white, with a grey man-made slate tile installed on the roof. The black window frames create a contracting crisp finish to this full house renovation.
